Marking paint and technology

Postby mvirtue on Sun Feb 05, 2012 8:20 am

What are you people using for marking paint I have been using dymark at about $5.50 a can , would like to get it cheaper any suggestions and if you have ideas on other brands that you like

Sorry if this in the wrong section of the forum but there is no general questions area and also nobody seems to use this forum to either share or tap into each others nolidge maybe there needs to be a email. Sent to NULCA
Members pointing out the advantages of using the forum like there could be so much to learn from each other , as technology is advancing so fast and giving us the communication age it would be good if we could see a reflection of that here

As for technology well I have been using the iPad with google maps to help me pinpoint where I am in country regions where the padlocks are so big it's hard to tell where you are using its gps it make it so easy, and with the dwf viewer to look at those great big documents and then to be able to go from google maps and the dwf viewer to see property boundrys so I can see where I am in the dwf file, I don't know what I would do with out it, so I have decided that that the iPad is a must for my tool kit

If this talk about the iPad inspires other it must be the 3G unit and get Internet from Telstra for about $150 per year as I have found other phone company's don't as yet have best coverage also the iPad it self I think cost around $900 aprox

yeah I would definitely agree, the forum could be getting better use.
I also use an iPad and agree it does help. Although I have the original iPad and am finding it runs very slow. Number 3 should be coming out within the next month or so, so I think I will be doing an update. And yes I agree, the $150 Telstra yearly plan is easily the best plan out there at the moment.

In terms of paint, I also use Dymark, you do get it cheaper if you buy in bulk. I try and just buy a pallet load at a time and I generally go through a pallet every 15 months or so.

Cheers

Hi Guys, I think a Technology page may be worth a look considering the number of tablets, handhelds and mobiles available. I use an iPad but do not have mobile broadband on it only wireless. Unfortunately this does become a bit limiting particularly with the DWF files. I have found McDwiff and Design Review ok but no good in the field. Tethering the mobile is ok to download but not so good when you need to stream the files. Does anyone use anything else that they'd like to share? Still waiting for the launch of the DBYD app but no confirmation on viewing maps from within the app.

Keep using the forum for any topic you may have. As I have found at the last meetings interstate, there a lots of members willing to share knowledge.
