Minutes of Meeting from 23rd November 2004

Minutes of Meeting held in Victoria on the 23rd November 2004.

Once again we were supported by interstate represetatives keen to be part of what Nulca is doing.

4 from NSW, 1 from WA , 1 from SA and 10 from Victoria.

President's Report went over the following issue:

Australian Standards:-

  1. Standards for locators/machines
  2. Ground Penentrating Radar
  3. Vacuum /mining
  4. GPRS - date stamps
  5. AM standards

One of the big issues that the locating industry is facing is professional indemnity insurance and legal representation that have sound knowledge of the risks associated with locators. ( in line with this we have been speaking to Insurance Brokers and we now have a couple of tests cases being put forward and we shall let you know once we receive a reply)

President had a recent meeting in WA with a good response.  Proposed WA model rollout - controlled environment.

Meeting had with Civil Contractors Federation.

Treasurer's Report

No outgoing except for Bank fees

Secretary's Report

A lot of time and effort has gone into contacting numerous publications with the view of publishing an article on Nulca. At this point in time the cost is very high and has been put on hold, but we will continue to follow up as time allows.

Other Business

Discussion on how the working parties were progressing with collating information for the standards.

A proposal was put forward to employ someone perhaps 1 day a week to assist with the establishment of Nulca.

It was decided that a questionaire be placed on the web site asking people directly involved in the indstry what they want to see within the standards.

One of the issues that was discussed was holding meetings either on Monday or Friday to allow interstate guest the opportunity of a long weekend. Monday seemed to be the prefered day.

Next meeting date Monday 28th February state and venue to be confirmed.

Once again thank you for a great year and all the effort everyone involved has made.
