All courses can be tailored to every individual company if required and can be mixed and matched to suit the knowledge of candidate(s) attending.

All NULCA trainers are NULCA members and locators with at least ten years' experience so you have confidence in their knowledge the ability to deliver a course that has quality.
Courses are delivered at pre-determined sites but can also be delivered in house if required.

ONE DAY - INTRODUCTION TO LOCATING – CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE

Intended for a candidate who is after minimal training on the basics of using a locating device on site
 


Intended for those who have completed a locating course and wish to refresh their knowledge or skills
 
ONE DAY UTILITY OWNER PLAN READING AND DUTY OF CARE OBLIGATIONS– CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE

 

TWO DAY – LOCATING BASICS AND AWARENESS COURSE (RIICCM202E)

IDENTIFY, LOCATE AND PROTECT UNDERGROUND SERVICES – STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT

This module was designed for the Civil Construction Industry and has been tailored for but not limited to those wishing to enter the Locating industry, engineers, site supervisors, safety advisors, utility operators, trade workers, and maintenance and construction workers and is a nationally accredited course.

It is tailored for entry level students and supplies the basis for general Electro Magnetic Frequency Detection techniques. Completion of this course along with further experience will help students prepare for further training in preparation for full time locating.

Over the two days you will cover

  • Plan and prepare for underground locating
  • Understand scope of project
  • Correct signage for task
  • Obtain plans and basic plan reading
  • Duty of care
  • Interpret locate signals to locate utilities
  • Site documentation
  • Conduct housekeeping
All our trainers are NULCA members and locators so you know they have real life experience.

In preparation it is advisable that all candidates have
  • General Induction Card (White Card)
  • Work attire (Boots, vest and hat)
  • Your own locating device if possible
 
TWO DAY – LOCATOR TRAINING COURSE 
USE LOCATING DEVICES – STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT


This module is for field staff with a specific responsibly to locate and identify underground utility services prior to excavation.

Candidates are required to have a reasonably sound knowledge of the locating industry and have existing experience.

Electro Magnetic Frequency Detection is the most common and accurate locating technique for metallic objects.

This covers all tasks in the basic course plus more
  • Plan and prepare for underground locating
  • Understand scope of project
  • Correct signage for task
  • Obtain plans and basic plan reading
  • Duty of care
  • Interpret locate signals
  • Correctly identify targets
  • Interpret false signals
  • Trouble shooting
  • Use alternate equipment – Trace rods, sondes, transponder locating and GPR information
  • Site documentation
  • Conduct housekeeping
  • AS5488:2013– Subsurface Utility Information including any updates
  • Review DCL equipment and requirements
This course is not designed for beginners

To achieve the best possible outcome, candidates are requested to have the following
  • General Induction Card (White Card)
  • Work attire (Boots, vest and hat)
  • Locating device suitable for DYBD Certification
